About Us

Our Mission Statement

Good Father Ministries is a non-profit, faith-based organization committed to bringing hope and the love of Jesus Christ to the Haitian villagers in the batey of Santa Alicia, Dominican Republic. We focus on sharing uplifting stories, impactful photos, and enlightening videos from the communities we serve to highlight our mission and the positive changes we strive to achieve.

Our Story

Serving in the Dominican Republic

When many people think of the Dominican Republic, they picture beautiful resorts, cruise ships, and white-sand beaches. But beyond the tourist destinations, many people live in extreme poverty with limited opportunities and circumstances that can feel hopeless. The Dominican Republic shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. Decades ago, Haitians were brought to the DR to work in sugarcane fields and live in communities known as bateys. They were promised a better life, but many instead faced backbreaking work, meager wages, high prices for basic necessities, and a lack of documentation that limited their rights and opportunities.

Our Journey Began in 2014

Our first mission trip was in 2014, when we were introduced to the batey of Santa Alicia. The people we met had tremendous faith, but many lacked life’s basic necessities. Our teams provided medical, dental, and eyeglass clinics; built wooden bed frames and provided mattresses for families sleeping on cardboard over concrete floors; constructed chicken coops and a water well system; painted; provided feeding programs; and offered Vacation Bible School activities for children. Most importantly, we worshiped together in a small building that served as both a church and school. There was no air conditioning, no glass in the windows, and only simple lightbulbs for light. Yet within those walls, relationships grew, faith was strengthened, and we shared the hope found in Jesus Christ. Between 2014 and the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we completed 16 mission trips.

A Community in Transition

Eventually, the landowner stopped growing sugarcane and told the Haitian families living in the batey that they had to leave. With limited options, many remained in the area between Monte Plata and Bayaguana. The church built outside the batey became their new church home and ours. Our commitment to these families did not end when they left Santa Alicia. Good Father Ministries continues to provide a monthly feeding program for elderly residents and supports a college program that helps young people build better futures. In 2021, three women completed the program and graduated from college. Today, two additional women and one young man are on track to graduate by 2027.

26 Trips and Counting

To date, we have completed 26 mission trips to the Dominican Republic, serving alongside nearly 335 faith-filled Christian team members. Our youngest team member has been 6 years old, and our oldest 72. There truly is no age limit when it comes to serving others. In March 2027, we will make our seventh trip in partnership with McKinney Christian Academy during Mission Week. These Christian high school students have served faithfully and developed meaningful relationships with the people they have met.

Each trip is shaped by the talents and gifts of our team members, but our purpose remains the same: to serve others, build relationships, meet needs, and share the love and hope of Jesus Christ. We are grateful for your prayers for our teams, ministry partners, and especially the people we have been blessed to know and serve in the Dominican Republic. Please continue to pray for our team members and for the people we serve in the name of the Lord in the Dominican Republic.
