“My time serving in the Dominican Republic has opened my eyes to the many ways God is at work beyond the borders of my own country and culture. It has been such a gift to share His love through something I am so passionate about—volleyball—but some of my most meaningful memories have come through the relationships built along the way.

One experience I will never forget was helping with a medical clinic at a local church, where we had the opportunity to care for people in the village, especially the elderly. During another trip, I met a gentleman in Monte Plata who was struggling with a shoulder injury, and I was able to work with him and show him some physical therapy exercises. When we returned the following year, I didn’t see him the entire time we were in the village. As our bus was leaving, I spotted him sitting on the side of the road. I jumped off the bus to give him a hug, and the fact that he remembered me—and that his shoulder was doing a little better—was a moment I will never forget.

The Dominican Republic will always hold such a special place in my heart. God has shown me that serving others isn’t just about what we can give; it’s about the relationships we build, the love we share, and the ways He uses our gifts to connect us with people we may never have otherwise met. I will forever cherish the memories, friendships, and people God has placed in my life through these mission trips."
